Aluminum Toxicity

I know it might seem exhausting when every time you turn on your phone, you see another Instagram post telling you that something you’ve been using for years is harmful. I get it, everything nowadays seems to be bad for you! But its the truth.

We live in an extremely toxic modernized world where convenience is put above all else. Microwaves to heat up our food, preservatives to keep our food lasting longer, fast food restaurants on every corner so we don’t have to cook… most things that are a result of our modernized world have ill effects on our health because they are not natural. Unfortunately, this is why we have more disease than ever!

Thankfully, we live in a time where we also have more information than ever at our fingertips so we can continue educating ourselves and doing our best for our bodies and that of our families.

Aluminum leaches from aluminum products and into our food especially when cooked with acidic foods such as lemon or tomatoes. These heavy metals sit in our bodies and damage our nerves and brain tissue. Because they are “heavy”, our body doesn’t chelate them out well so they build up and can reach toxic levels in our body. Dementia, Alzheimer’s and other nervous system related conditions have direct links to aluminum toxicity.

The great news is that it is super easy to ditch and switch your products to avoid high exposure !

My favourite is baking foods in a glass baking dish with a lid to avoid the aluminum foil or aluminum coated pans/sheets. We use beeswax paper or glass Tupperware when storing food in the fridge and always read labels to ensure our natural beauty products are aluminum free. We avoid canned food as much as possible too to limit our exposure to aluminum that inevitable leaches into the food inside the can.

There is so much more we can do to reduce aluminum exposure but here is a good starting point!
